Included with the photo is the following information: "Joseph Ashton (1654-1707) came to this country before Penn did, and owned lands up the creek near Well Spring. He and his wife, Jane, were the first people baptized in Pennsylvania. They joined the Baptists who fled from Wales in 1686, and settled up the Pennypack, beyond Bustletown (Pa) where they started the Pennypack Meeting, the mother church for all Baptists in Eastern Pennsylvania."
