      He was taken Prisoner of War November 25, 1863, on retreat from Missionary Ridge Tennessee (per February 28, 1865 muster), he was sent to Rock Island, Illinois, a prison camp located on the Mississippi River.

      He died July 28th, 1881, while cleaning the well at Blackberry Baptist Church in Henry County, Virginia.

      Lafayette is engraved curved in the top of the stone which has a curved top. Each line is centered and the lettering is handsome. The stone is broken across the date of death.
      Gravesite Details 1997 PHOTO SHOWS TOMBSTONE BROKEN INTO TWO PIECES; BREAK GOES THROUGH DATE OF DEATH.
